But in 2018, Gaga finally got a role that showed her from a completely different side. In A Star Is Born, she played Ally - a girl who dreams of being on stage and gradually turns into a huge star. The film became Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, while Gaga herself received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

But the story did not end there - the song Shallow, written for the film, brought her an Oscar for Best Original Song and a Golden Globe. It turned out to be pretty symbolic: Gaga literally played the story of a girl who is trying to make it in show business, and then she herself received the biggest Hollywood awards for that work.

And Then She Turned Into Patrizia Reggiani

In 2021, Gaga surprised her fans again and played Patrizia Reggiani in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. And this was a completely different Gaga - not a pop star in a flashy outfit but a real woman from one of the most famous criminal stories in the fashion world. Her husband Maurizio Gucci, played by Adam Driver, was murdered in a contract killing, and Patrizia was later convicted of arranging his murder.

Interestingly, Gaga deliberately chose not to meet the real Reggiani before filming so that she could create her own version of the character and not allow the real woman to influence her performance too much. In the end, critics singled out Gaga’s performance, even though the film itself received a fairly mixed reaction. 

Love, Engagements And Breakups!

Of course, Gaga’s fans (and not only them) followed not only her songs and movies where she starred but also her personal life, which, by the way, was always quite turbulent. And how did she manage to do it all? The singer was engaged three times, twice to Christian Carino, an engagement with whom she eventually called off again. But let’s take it one step at a time.

When Gaga Dated The Man Who Helped Create Her Image

In the late 2000s, Gaga dated designer Matthew “Dada” Williams. And it was quite an unusual romance because Matthew was not only her boyfriend but also the person who helped create this entire famous Gaga world. He was the creative director of Haus of Gaga from 2008 to 2010 and took part in creating her looks.

Gaga later said that they were real crazy lovers but at some point they realized just how strongly they were connected through creativity. In the end, the romance was over but their professional collaboration continued for some time. So, even Gaga’s breakup somehow managed to turn into a work project!

Taylor Kinney Proposed To Gaga but There Was No Wedding

Gaga met actor Taylor Kinney while filming the You and I music video, and a real romance started between them pretty quickly. They dated for several years, appeared together on red carpets, and in 2015 Taylor proposed to Gaga. And he chose Valentine’s Day for it and gave her a ring with a big heart.

Gaga, of course, said “yes,” and everyone had already started waiting for the wedding. But a year and a half later, the couple unexpectedly broke up. Gaga later explained that they both had very strong creative personalities and that it was difficult for them to balance their relationship with their constant work. In the end, they never made it to the wedding.

Then There Was Christian Carino And Another Engagement...

After Taylor, Christian Carino, Gaga’s agent, appeared in her life. They were first spotted together in 2017, and in 2018 it became known that they were engaged. It seemed that this time they would definitely make it to the wedding but the story ended in another breakup. In early 2019, Gaga and Christian called off their engagement - literally shortly before her huge triumph after the release of A Star Is Born (yes, she was also later rumored to have had a romance with Bradley Cooper).

They did not explain the reasons for the breakup in detail, so the press came up with many different versions at the time. But Gaga preferred not to bring her personal drama into the public eye.

And Then Michael Polansky Appeared In Her Life

Things turned out a little differently with Michael Polansky. They were first spotted together at the end of 2019, and by early 2020 Gaga was already barely hiding her new romance. And then the pandemic happened, and instead of endless flights and events, the couple found themselves together in quarantine.
